The Hexi corridor in both its halves. A snow range seen over the wing of a plane, one dune held in hard light and, beside it, the same sand at dawn with a fence and a channel of water crossing the foreground, a rope ladder up a sand slope with figures on the crest. Then rock - a cliff face read as strata - and then green: a white yak standing among boulders, sheep scattered over a hillside of scrub and stone. Sand runs to the middle of the sequence, and then it stops.
河西走廊的两半。机翼下的雪山；一道硬光下的沙丘，紧挨着同一片沙在黎明里的样子——前景有一道栅栏和一条水渠；沙坡上的绳梯和顶上的人。然后是岩石——把崖面读成层理——和绿色：石头间站着一头白牦牛，羊群散在灌木与石头之间。沙走到序列中段，就没有了。
