A coastal city, read from the water's edge. A cable car hanging over the bay, a pink and cream train hugging the rocks, a breakwater that ends in a red lighthouse, rabbit lanterns lit in a dark park, the sea done again in every weather it has. Interiors count only where they face the water. Inland I take one surface at a time - a tower checkered black and white behind bare branches. It closes on a single street corner held still while the light goes: the same wires, the same signal gantry, the same headland, twice, and between the two the cars switch their lights on.
一座海边城市，我从水边读它。缆车吊在海湾上方，粉白相间的火车贴着礁石走，防波堤尽头是红灯塔，黑下来的公园里兔子灯笼亮着，海在每一种天气里各做一遍。室内只有面对海的时候才算数。往里走，一次只取一个面——光秃的枝子后面，一座黑白格子的塔。最后停在一个路口不动：同样的电线、同样的信号灯架、地平线上同样那座小岛，拍两次，中间那段时间里，车灯一盏一盏亮起来。
