The day after Gahai. Langmusi is a town on the Gansu-Sichuan line with a monastery on each side of the river, and by the time the camera came out the light was already afternoon. What I kept is the road leaving it: the guardrail sweeping round a bend, a green slope going up to grey rock, a valley between two ridges with the cloud filling the gap. Further on the grass opens and the yaks are on it, two white nomad tents standing in the middle distance, and then just the grass. None of these frames has a horizon I arranged; the plateau does not offer one.
尕海的第二天。郎木寺是甘川交界上的一个镇，河两边各有一座寺院，等相机拿出来，光已经是下午的了。留下来的不是那个镇，是离开它的那条路：护栏绕过一道弯，一片绿坡升到灰岩上，两条山脊之间夹着一道谷，云正好填在缺口里。再往前草原打开，牦牛在上面，中景里立着两顶白帐篷，然后就剩下草。这一天没有一张的地平线是我安排出来的——高原不给。
