Lanzhou in winter, mostly through glass. Snow on a window sill past blue curtains, a bicycle left outside and covered, a rose head iced solid with one yellow-green crumb at its centre, tower blocks going back into haze, a bare tree alone on a brown plain, a night street where the plane trees are lit from below. The city stays at a distance, and I left it there.
冬天的兰州，多半是隔着玻璃看的。蓝窗帘外的窗台积着雪；一辆自行车被雪盖住；一朵玫瑰冻实了，花心只剩一点黄绿；雾里的楼群；棕色平原上一棵孤零零的秃树；夜里的街上，梧桐被灯从下往上照着。城市始终隔着一段距离，我也没走近。
