Wuhan along the river and in the gorge above it. A plane-tree road in fog with a barge standing off it, a limestone cliff fixed with rows of small dark boxes, ridge after ridge going soft into haze, a wide grey river with barges crossing under the city towers, a slender arch carrying walkers between two cliffs. The fog did not lift once.
武汉在江边，也在江上的峡谷里。雾里的梧桐路和货船，岩壁上钉着一排排小木箱，山脊一道接一道化进雾里，灰色江面上驳船从楼群前开过，峡口架着一道细拱，人走在上面黑成一条线。雾一次也没有散。
