At night the only light in a frame is light somebody put there, which means a night photograph is a record of other people's decisions about where to be seen. I am not photographing the dark. I am photographing the small argument against it: one lit window in a village under fog, a row of lamps on a road with nothing on it, a sign still on above a shop that closed hours ago. The dark is the paper. The light is the drawing.
夜里画面里所有的光，都是别人放上去的，所以一张夜景记的是别人决定「哪里要被看见」。我拍的不是黑，是黑上面那点小小的反对：雾底下一整个村子只剩一扇亮着的窗，一条空路上还排着灯，一家早关了门的店，招牌还亮着。黑是纸，光是画上去的。
