A hillside ploughed in contour lines, a wall of glazed tile, a floor of drying leaves, a stack of firewood seen end-on. These are not photographs of objects. They are photographs of the moment a surface stops being a thing and becomes a set of rules - and the rules are always the same rules, whether they were made by a farmer, a bricklayer, or the weather. The picture is the part where the rule holds and the part where it starts to break.
顺着等高线犁出来的坡，一面琉璃砖的墙，一地晾着的叶子，一垛劈好的柴从横截面看过去。这些不是拍东西的照片，是拍「一个表面在什么时候不再是一个东西、变成一套规矩」的照片——而这套规矩永远是同一套，不管是农民定的、瓦工定的，还是天气定的。照片里好看的地方，是规矩还成立的那部分，和它开始不成立的那部分。
